Welcome to The Unplucked Apple Podcast, where we’re working every day to diversify philosophy. I am your host, Amanda Tipton. Our goal here is to create a space where philosophers from underrepresented groups can find their voice and reach more people with their work. While this post will link to an introductions episode, we will generally offer three different kinds of episodes for your listening pleasure: monologue episodes where I delve into the history of philosophy to tell stories about marginalized philosophers and their important (but vastly underappreciated) contributions to the discipline; panel discussions which frequently focus on the mainstream philosophical discourse and how we can view, interpret, or update it via marginalized viewpoints; and one-on-one interviews with contemporary philosophers about their work, particularly concerning marginalized issues and authors.
When we’re ready to publish our first episodes, you’ll find a short episode here that contains short bios from our most common contributors so you can hear about what brought each of us into philosophy, and allow you to get used to each of our voices. Once this episode is posted, it will be pinned to the top of our feed of episodes so it is always easily accessible. That way, if you’re a new listener it’s easy to find so you’ll be more acquainted with each of us as you dive into content episodes. And if you’re a returning listener, any time you’re having trouble figuring out who’s saying what, you can come back to our introductions and reacquaint yourself with the sounds of our voices and what each of our areas of interest are.
